2016-2017 will be the fifth year of the course: Biochemistry/Molecular Biology. I want to get students that are seriously interested in tudying biotechnology/molecular genetics in college a good foundation before they get to that next level. This course focuses on protein structure and function as well as looking at many aspects of DNA. I will be using the "Gold Standard" of biotechnology texts - DNA Science, 2nd ed. - to help students learn the proper techniques in cultivating bacteria and doing DNA manipulation protocols. I also will be using resources from the Princeton University/HHMI Molecular Biology Outreach Program to get my students involved in current research that is being conducted.

I would be remiss if I did not thank fellow teacher Tony DeMarco, whom I have leaned on heavily in developing this course. Additional thanks goes to the Princeton Molecular Biology Outreach Program as well as the Biotechnology program at Hudson Valley Community College, as they have helped get this course started by lending a large amount of equipment that makes teaching it possible.
